Projects

A project is a container for repositories. You create it from a forge repository, from a directory on the server, or with no code. The project is created in the company that is active in the top bar and is visible to its members.

Project from a forge

  1. On the home screen, click From Forge.
  2. At step 01 PROVIDER, choose the forge and click STAGE SELECTION.
  3. Pick a repository and confirm. The first analysis loads the code.

Project from a directory on the server

The directory is chosen on the machine where Council is installed, inside the projects directory set during installation.

  1. On the home screen, click New Project.
  2. In Repository directory, choose the directory. Directories that contain a repository have their own icon.
  3. Fill in Project Name, optionally Description, and click the create button.

Project name

The name is set at creation and can't be changed later: in Settings → General it is read-only.

Directory projects have limits. The code doesn't update on its own: new commits reach the project after you update the directory and run a new analysis. MR review, auto-review and publishing findings are unavailable because such a repository has no forge. Branch review works if the directory is a git repository.

Project with no code

Click New Project, don't choose a directory, fill in Project Name and click Create without code. The Knowledge, Conventions and AI Chat screens are available right away. Repositories can be added later.

Adding a repository to a project

  1. Open the project → Settings → Repositories.
  2. Click + Add repository and choose a forge repository or a directory on the server.
  3. Run analysis. Until you do, the new repository's code doesn't appear on the project screens.
